What is EnContact?
Encontact is a massive directory of people, their friends and their colleagues. It lists where people are, who people are and what people do for a living and makes that information accessible across the internet BUT only to the point that individual users specify.
What is Encontact used for?
Privately users are able to keep product code and serial numbers of software for safe keeping as well as obvious address and contact lists. If someone is looking for you for whatever purpose (legal, personal or for business reasons) then until now it has been very difficult.
Now however, over 1,000,000 people come to Encontact every month, enter a few parameters and within minutes they have a shortlist of people that may be the match they've been searching for. They send an email message via us asking those shortlisted users certain predefined questions - if you think you're the person they're looking for you hit the "allow this user access to.." button.
What stops my details getting out on the Internet?
Your confidential personal details are those that you set. If you're on an electorial list however then your full name and address are available to any pamphlet sales team that wants it. Your phone number is far easier to keep private.
If you set your phone number to cost £1 to anybody that wants to ring it then they will ring an 0874 number which reroutes them to your number, but keeps your number hidden from them. Unless you give them your number then they will have to pay you £1 - each time - for the priviledge of calling you.
